ALTUS stands for “Alih Status” is a specific term used in Indonesia’s immigration system to refer to the process of changing a person’s visa status from one category to another while they are already in Indonesia. ALTUS process is typically used when a foreigner is in Indonesia on a certain type of visa (e.g., tourist visa or social visa) and wishes to change their status to another category, such as a work visa, business visa, or permanent residency. such as a work visa, business visa, or permanent residency. The most common scenario for the “Alih Status” is when someone enters Indonesia on a short-term visa but later secures a job offer or business opportunity that requires a different type of visa. Instead of leaving the country to apply for a new visa at an Indonesian consulate abroad, they can go through the “Alih Status” process within Indonesia.
