Izin Tinggal Terbatas (ITAS)

ITAS stands for “Izin Tinggal Terbatas,” or “Limited Stay Permit” in English. It is an official document issued by the Indonesian immigration authorities to foreigners who wish to stay in Indonesia for an extended period. The ITAS is typically valid for one year and needs to be renewed periodically. It provides certain privileges, such as the ability to open bank accounts, obtain a driver’s license, and access various services available to residents. It grants the holder the right to legally reside in Indonesia for a specific duration, usually for employment, business, or family-related reasons; and is obtained through a sponsorship process, typically by an Indonesian employer, a spouse who is an Indonesian citizen, or a foreigner who meets specific criteria for residency.
